Is it Ethical to Use Playstation Game Cheat Codes?

Most people never even question the ethics of game code cheats or game walkthroughs. It is all paryt of the process, part of the mystique of gamng. It doesn’t occur to them to wonder if they are missing part of the experience and cutting it short by skipping a whole lot of suffering.

On on hand, you might think that a cheat code which gives you invulnerability to a certain weapon or attack is putting you on unfair ground with the chumps wh odon’t have access to the cheat codes you used. Unlimited amunition might seem to let you breeze through whole areas of a level with nary a thought for planning and conservation. Not to mention a walkthrough which will let you stroll right overto that secret switch that opens the safe and the door to the next area. Talk about getting away with murder!

Now here’s the other side of the story. The games were designedt to be really hard and time consuming, with the ubergamer in mind. This is a broad generalization, but most games are way above beginner to intermediate level. It might be so frustrating that a newbie would quit long before making any serious progress. So what if the game dessigners kew this, and they built these cheats in intending that nearly everyone would use them?

That makes the playstation game cheats part of the intended usage of the game, which means using them can’t be cheating! Unless you feel like you are screwing yourself out of a sense of satisfaction, the gaming gods won’t be knocking down your door because you skipped straight to level five with unimited medi health packs and all the bubble gum you can chew. So, go for it ! Cheat your a$$ off if you want!

My Favorite Playstation Game Cheats of All Time


I used to own a lot of Playstation games. King’s Fild, King’s Field 2, Tomb Raider, Busta Move and Virtua Fighter were some of my favorites. Hours of fun were had with my friends and family as we pitted ourselves against the machine and each other.

But let’s face it. What gives you more guilty pleasure in the gaming world than a good cheat code? We’ve all used them, even the purists. Some of the games seem so hard that you only think youcan get ahead by cheating your way to the top. It takes all the fun out of it to think that you will never beat that level in a realistic time frame like, oh, less than 10 yrears. That’s when the average gamer turns to a cheat mag, or the internet, to get around that hard level or to get one up on his buddies. And what about the ethics of game cheat codes?

Some of the cheats I have used were darn near impossible to get to work. Gotta face your character north, step back and forth, jump three times and backflip while simultaneosly spitting to the right. Yeah, sure. Almost easier to jusr finish the dang game on your own!

Other Playstation game cheats just open a secret level with bonus items the chumps never get to see. Thesr pretty cool as well. Usually you can get these if you are really cleaver or lucky, without the cheat info as well.
